I was on about one 60mg a day of Oxycodone for about 2 years. Tried going cold turkey about 1 month ago and it was horrible. Had to get back on at least one 40mg of Oxycodone per day. I was given 5 8mg Suboxone pills and after about 12 hours after the last Oxycodone dosage, I started withdrawing so I took the first Suboxone pill entirely. Amazing how the withdrawal went away after a few minutes. Since then I've taken half a pill a day. I'm on the third day so I have 2 and a half Suboxone pills, but I doubt I will take them all. I will stop taking them now and only take more if, and only if, I get any withdrawal symptoms. This is amazing, life-saving stuff.

It is difficult when a relapse occurs, a patient needs to wait about 24 hours from their last opiate use before they can begin the suboxone again. Many opiate addicts become "sick", and are too tempted to take the suboxone too soon. Then because they take the Suboxone too soon, they become even MORE sick, because the Naloxone antagonizes the opiates still in the body. I've experienced this myself because I tried so hard to wait out the time and couldn't bear it. So I took the Suboxone early and felt like I've never felt before. I had the feeling of jolts in my legs. My skin felt like there were bugs crawling on me, I felt so internally cold, as if I were in a refrigerator, etc. But waiting 24 hours is too long.

I have been on Suboxone for almost a year. I was using 80mg Oxy's for almost 6 months prior to this drug. Suboxone has saved my life, my marriage, my sanity etc. I do have some side effects but I am used to them. The side effects are constipation, sweating, and sometimes mild headaches. I also had trouble urinating at first. I am ready to taper the dose. I recommend this medicine to all who suffer with opiate dependence like I do. It truely helped me get in a program without being "dope sick" first and it helps with cravings. Good luck to all.

I had been taking some opiate pain killers for the last five years, due to a low back injury and one unsuccessful surgery. I was on approximately 90 mg of Morphine and 60 mg of Oxycodone per day until I decided to try Suboxone to quit. It was about 2 months ago when I started and the Doctor put me on a 6-week taper. It worked very well. I didn't have any opiate withdrawal symptoms. I think this is a very good drug. I had no side effects that I could tell.

My wife and I had been taking 10 mg hydrocodones for 15 years like they were tic tacs. I worried about myself and my wife getting off these. We got suboxone and I have not used in almost a month. My wife only took a half a suboxone a day for 3 weeks. She has not taken any Suboxone in a couple of days and is fine. I have been taking 1 x 8 mg tablet a day for the past 3 weeks . We really wanted to quit and without suboxone this would have been impossible. I wish I would have taken this a few years ago, we blew a lot of money. Good Luck to everyone. The main thing is to know in your heart that you want to be a better person for the ones you love and suboxone will really help.

I have been using heroin for 6 years now, without hardly a break. I got married and just wanted to be normal again. My habit was $200 to $300 a day. I thought there was no hope for me. I finally found a doctor and about a month after I contacted them I got in for an appointment and I was put on Suboxone. Besides it tasting horrible it is a life saver. I couldn't have done it on my own. I now take only 16 mg a day and we're working it down. I feel great, and I'm myself again.

I unfortunately did not find out about suboxone until it was too late to save my marriage and my family but not too late to save my life. I took narcotics for 20 years(the last 8 were very very bad - my own family did not want me around). On the 3rd inhouse rehab stay I was given suboxone. I have been clean for 18 months and have myself back. Suboxone IS A MIRACLE DRUG. It gave me back the self respect I needed to reclaim my life.

I started using Lortab and Percocet to control pain approximately 4 to 5 years ago. I then moved on to Morphine, Kadian, Opana, Roxicodone and eventually Duragesic/Fentanyl Patches. I was using up to 400 mg of Oxycontin/day in addition to the above mentioned for "break through pain". I used Methadone when it was available. I started Suboxone over a year ago and it was "the miracle" drug for me. I can't say enough about the Physician and Medication. If you're an opiate addict and ready to get better give Suboxone a try. You won't be disappointed.

I was addicted to pain medication for over 5 years. I was taking every pain pill I could get my hands on and had no problems getting doctors to give me more. I started taking suboxone and I am now back to who I once was. It is a TRUE life saver. It makes you feel normal and alive again. I have become the person that everyone missed. If you you are skeptical like I was, this medication will change your mind. It does work. It does take the withdrawals away and you can function again. I get sick to my stomach just thinking about pain pills. THANK YOU to the creator and THANK YOU to my family for never giving up on me. NEVER give up.

I am a health care professional and unfortunately have been addicted to opiates on and off for 4 years. I originally injured my back. Recently I started to abuse my opiate medications. I was unable to stop taking them this time. Suboxone is a miracle drug. If I had known it was out there sooner I would have happily detoxed earlier. It has given me my life back. Thank you to whoever invented this amazing medication.

I used to have a habit that ranged from 200 to 350 dollars a day. It consisted of vicodin and oxycontin but when I brought life into this world, I knew something had to change. I found a doctor on the internet that ran a suboxone program. Since then my life has made a 360degree turn for the best but what people have to realize is that eventually they're going to have to stop with this too. This is a product used to get through an opiate addiction. It's not a replacement.

I started Suboxone 13 days ago after being addicted to opiates for about 2 plus years. I was like the rest of them buying them off the streets and runnig up about a $150.00 - $200.00 a day habit. I was stealing money from my husband and my parents and literally could not talk to my kids without screaming by evening. I agree Suboxone is a life saver but I would like to eventually get off them but I know without them I would still be using more and more every day. I love my husband again and enjoy my children. I do suggest however going to NA meetings or therapy so you do not feel alone and have someone else you can talk to if the urge ever arises. No real urges in 13 days. Good Luck to all.

I was a major pill popper. Popping 10-15 Oxycodone HCL 30mg a day. I should be dead by now, but by the grace of God, he gave me a 2nd chance. I have been taking Suboxone for 2 years now. The amount and the time you need depends on each individual. It is a miracle drug. I can wake up in the morning now just feeling normal. I used to envy people that could do that because I knew I couldn't with out popping the 30s even before I drink my coffee. My life was unmanageable. I have 2 kids to live for and a family that loves me to death. They know the real me, so kids and adults, don't think your family doesn't see the changes when you are taking pills(oxy's, Roxi's, Vics, Loracet, Loratab,Pers! Try Suboxones it really works Miracles.

This drug saved my life. If taken as prescribed, it will help you with your opiate dependency. You will not feel withdrawl symptoms, and you will soon find yourself loosing the desire to use illegal drugs. I was a heroin user for 15 years, until my doctor recommended this drug along with a 12 step program. My life has changed for the better. I recommend this as a last resort. If you have tried every other option to get off opiates, and failed, you have nothing to loose. If you try to abuse Suboxone, you will get sick. Again, this medicine saved my life.

I was drug free for the first 26 years of my life, but after my divorce I began a whole new life on my own, found new friends and started to have fun that included drugs. I felt they were harmless, and that turned in to 20 750 mg vicodins everyday. Some days it was hard to get them and then I would go in to a desperate panic terrified by the thought of withdrawl. I began Suboxone 2 years ago and never had one withdrawl symptom. It is shocking how effective it is.

I have been clean since May, and it is a beautiful thing. To think that I was a college student, learning all these things, and the only thing I knew was dope. I mustered up some courage and after talking to the campus councellor, I called a specialist. After a long night of no sleep and cold sweats among other nightmarish withdrawl symptoms, I dragged myself to the doctor's with my loving girlfriend beside me. My life spun 180 degrees that day and I never looked back.

I started taking pain pills at age 15 and in a year tops I was a full blown addict. I decided to get on suboxone. I have been on it for about 5 months now and it has been great for me. I love it, it is definitely a miracle drug and I would recommend it to anyone. Of course you have to be in the right frame of mind or else it probably won't do a bit of good.

I am 24 years old and I was addicted to opiates/heroin for 5 years after having my hip fractured. I have been on 32mg of suboxone for 8 months now. It has been a lifesaver. My life has totally turned around for the best. I feel like a normal human being now. I have been able to save money and I have even gone back to college and can focus now. I highly recommend Suboxone to detox.

WE ASKED TO GET WEENED DOWN OF THE METHODONE AND THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 6 MONTHS. WE STOPED AND TRIED TO DO IT ON OUR OWN BUT YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. WE FELT LIKE SHIT. FINALLY A DOCTOR COULD SEE ME AND WE HAVE BEEN TAKING SUBOXONE FOUR 2 DAYS.IT'S GREAT. KNOW WE WILL WEEN OURSELFS OFF THIS AND BE DONE.

Out of money and out of sources, I was on the verge of losing it all because I could not function without opiates. I found a doctor on the suboxone site and with God on my side the doctor answered the phone himself and agreed to accept my insurance because they usually only accept cash.I dragged myself into his office in full blow withdrawal. He gave me a dose immediately and within minutes my life was mine again. Started at 24mg/day now 2mg/day and almost all done. No cravings ever. Please believe and try this.

Suboxone and Subutex are definitely a viable alternative to methadone or purely tapering off opiates/opiods. Remember that eating anything containing multiple grams of acetaminophen, especially chronically or with alcohol is way more liver toxic than most patients and doctors realize. I stopped killing my liver - methadone and Subutex/Suboxone were a great help. Just taper off all of it before it, too becomes a habit.

I've been on a short term detox from painkillers using Suboxone. It truly is a miracle drug, if used correctly. I think long-term use is starting to look like a nightmare scenario for some. Be careful, use for less than 2 weeks and you'll be good. Less is more.

I have been on suboxone for three and a half months now. I did write on here when I first started this treatment from using oxys. I just want to tell everyone that I feel like a million dollars. I have my family, friends and life back. I can function like a normal person again. I do have pain everyday (that's why I was on oxys) but I go to the rheumatologist this month to straighten out my problem, actually we just found out what is wrong with me, arthritis (spondalitis). This is the best treatment out there!

I have been on 20 Lortab and 10 Soma a day for 5 YEARS and I did the detox for 1 day, which gave me mild withdrawls but the second I took that first 2 mg of Suboxone, I felt and looked better. I have been going on 3 weeks now and I won't lie, my back does hurt at times and I still want to pop pills when stress is high but I haven't because the Suboxone has made me pull through that feeling. Be realistic and I promise this was the best drug to help me.

I was addicted to oxys in Anchorage for 3 years, buying them off the street. I dropped out of college, lost several jobs, and hurt every person I cared for just to get high. I moved away hoping to get away from the drugs, and just ended up at a methadone clinic for another 3 years. I finally made the choice to start suboxone, it's only been a week but I feel a hundred times better.

I just wanted to write a brief comment based on somebody else saying that suboxone is just "another addiction and what a hell of a way to live" I have to say my spouse has been abusing drugs and alcohol for many year now, and life inside our house has been up side down for everybody, including our kids. She has been detoxed and on suboxone for over 4 months now, and life couldn’t be much better in our house. It is even taking away her craving alcohol. GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Today is my first drug free day and I don't feel bad at all but actually feel pretty good. This is without a doubt the best detox drug I have ever used.

I am 33 yrs old and have been addicted to percocet and oxy's for nearly 10 years. I wanted off but with 2 kids I physically couldn't handle the withdrawl. I took my 1st suboxone yesterday and haven't felt like taking an oxy since. NO BONE ACHING PAINS, SWEATS...NOTHING. Just ME. I am more relaxed with my children and I feel like a whole "person" again. I know this will help me get control.

I am 28 years old and have been addicted to vicodin and percocet for over 3 years. I started suboxone about 2 weeks ago and I think it's great! I didnt have any urges to use the drugs I was taking. You have to be in the stages of withdrawl when you start Suboxone, so you feel bad at first, but once you take the first dose, you feel better, and have energy and feel productive. The narcotics were uppers for me. I needed them to get through the day. The nice thing about suboxone is you have no withdrawl symptoms or cravings and feel normal. I feel like myself again. Now instead of buying pills off the street, Im going to the mall. I was scared but now I'm excited.

I have just started taking suboxone again, I was on it for 6 months in Virginia and I did very well on this medication. I moved to Tennessee and ran out and relapsed until I could get back on Suboxone. If you are really ready to stop usuing then Suboxone is very effective. I dont think I could do it without it. Suboxone not only changed my life, it saved my life.

I was skeptical about suboxone when I first heard about it, thinking it was just getting high off of one drug to replace another, but I was wrong. Suboxone is actually working well to help get my life back in order. It keeps me from having bad detox, controls my cravings, and also has some sedating, and sometimes annoying side effects, it does not flat out get me high like I originally thought it would. Suboxone really is a serious treatment for opioid addiction and I strongly recomend it

I can not even begin to tell you how Suboxone has saved my life. After 14 yrs of Opiate addiction stemming from a medical condition, I was scared to try it. I had experienced withdrawl a few times before but I did try it and my entire life changed. I am enjoying my life. I never felt any withdrawls. I started by taking 2 a day, now take 1 a day and feel great. Soon I'll be off completely. Please at least try them. You might get your life back.

I have been taking this medication for 3 months now. After the first dose I felt like a million dollars, as my mood lifted I felt great, for the first time in 4 years since i started taking narcotics for chronic pain. I find this drug helps somewhat for pain, wish it would help a little more. Thats okay as I have my life back again and now I function a lot better, and have much clearer thinking then i did.

I have been on buprenorphine for 2 years now, at 32 mg a day after a 20 year Vicodin habit. It has saved my life and I finally feel like a normal person again, which I never thought could happen. I also still go to meetings 2 times a month and love it.

I have been taking opiates for about 2-3 years and was taking about 20-30 tablets a day. I just started taking Suboxone today. I have to take two 8mg pills a day at first them go down I guess. Im really excited about this pill and can't believe I feel this good. No withdrawl symptoms. I have energy and am able to actually do stuff without taking so many pills.

my husband has been an opiate addict for over 12 years and has just been taking the suboxone and has done okay with it. i just feel it is another form of addiction. with the suboxone, it is a monitored addiction rather than uncontrolled. either way, what a hell of a way to live

I just started monday on Suboxone so far so good. Got a long road ahead of me though. Hope to only be on the meds for another two months or so. I heard this also was a very addictive medication and thats what Im trying to avoid. But none the less its better than taking 30-40 vic tens a day just to function.
30 user(s) found this comment helpful. Did you?YesNo
I have been addicted to opiates for 2 years. I can say if I didn't have at least 120mg of oxy a day, I couldn't function properly. It got to the point I'm loosing everything I have one by one & I realized it's time to stop. This past Monday I started the suboxone treatment. I'm so relieved to get help and I feel much better each day. I do know, it's up to me now not to use and I don't have any craving since I started my treatment. I promise to make this work and will stick with my promise.

I have Been taking Suboxone for a while now i guess it helps, but you have to ask your self is it worth moving from one addiction to another. Yes it does help, it seems as if it is a functional form of Oxycotin/Herion. With my experience it does work, but you have to have the will to stop by your self or your just using it to get by, and giveing money to pharmacists for the same reason as you were giving money to a dealer. Opiate addiction is a sickness that doesent go away.

It sounds magical (even to me) but I can assure you it's real (in my case, at least): Suboxone cured me of my illegal opiate dependence virtually overnight. One day I was driving into the ghetto to get heroin, the next day, after starting Suboxone therapy, I was on my way to my first NA meeting, withdrawal free, and in three days I got a new job. It literally saved my life...and gave me the *freedom* to live the life I wanted to live.

I have been taking suboxone for ten months now and let me tell you if you are serious about wanting to quit your addiction and you follow your doctors orders you will not find anything better than suboxone. I was taking 5 80mg oxycontin a day and quit by using suboxone without withdrawls and after a week of taking it i was really back to my old self again. It is true that the same dose is not for everyone. I only took 3 of the 2mg pills a day and that is a low dose but itworks Now I take one.

I had an 7 year addiction to Norco (Vicodin) following extensive surgery in 2001. I bit the bullet and took Suboxone at the end of December last. It worked like a miracle. I quit the Norco. But little did I know that it is also addictive and now I am hooked on the Suboxone. My doc who had no qualms about giving me Norco now won't renew my Suboxone Scrip. I have about 2 weeks of pills left. I only take one pill a day. I am attempting to wean myself off this drug but it is very hard.

I was on hydrocodones and norco for over 12 years. I had gotten up to an extreme dose a day. I never thought I could get off of them until a friend of my daughters recommended the suboxone clinic. I have been on the detox program for about 3 weeks now. It seems to be working well for me. I am so tired of being addicted to some kind of drug and I hope this continues to work for me. The comments about suboxone on this website has helped me and I hope mine has helped as well.
