Definition of Alopecia: 1. Baldness, absence of the hair from skin areas where it normally is present.

2. Hair loss as a result of chemotherapy or radiation therapy administered to the head. Hair loss from chemotherapy is temporary. Hair loss from radiation is usually permanent.
